CLEOPATRA (c. 70-30 BC. E.)
Daughter of the Macedonian king Ptolemy of Egypt, inherited the throne along with his brother and husband; 48 became the mistress of Julius Caesar, bore him a son – Caesarion. From 46 to 44 lived in Rome. After the assassination of Caesar returned to Alexandria and began to rule despotically. Then she became the mistress of Anthony, who gave her a rich area of Crete and Cilicia, which caused discontent in Rome. After the defeat of Antony’s fleet Octavian (see. August) at Actium and suicide Anthony Cleopatra committed suicide with the help of the asp, a small poisonous snake, dedicated to the Egyptian god of the sun
