Karl Bang
/ Karl Bang / Ka Bong was born in Shanghai in 1935.
During the Cultural Revolution, Mao Zedong, Karl was obligated to paint only the propaganda images that demanded from him the government, chanting communist ideals, portraying mainly working life of Chinese farmers. After Mao’s death, most of the pictures Banga this period were destroyed.
In 1984, the artist and his family emigrated to the United States, where he devoted himself to his passion – the image of the beautiful goddess, ideals of female beauty of different races and cultures.
This has become a central theme for all subsequent works of Karl Bang. In his paintings, he is not just a beautiful woman, and a woman personifying natural softness, inner strength, grace and finesse.
In the work of Charles Banga can see a combination of the two opposing traditions: Chinese artistic culture and expressive, emotional european style. Later, his work has incorporated artistic features practically all over the world. This international fusion of styles and earned him the title of ”master of modern eclecticism.”
